PET/CT Technologist
Provides radiologic care to patients for diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. Operates PET/CT scanner unit to perform clinical diagnostic procedures as directed.
Key Results Area
Performs venipuncture as required for exam
Prepare the patient for the exam by administering precise amounts of radionuclides
Performs a series of exposures as appropriate, by selecting proper protocols from the machine
Prepares patient for exam by completing all questionnaires and other necessary documentation
Educate the patient and family on the procedure to be performed. Checks prep and maintains patient exam, and history and completes exams in EMR
Survey all incoming shipments containing radioactive material
Measures all doses prescribed for patients in a dose calibrator
Always use proper safety precautions when working with radioactive material
Performs QA on all equipment and measuring devices
Strict adherence to all NRC regulations with record-keeping
Maintains exact records for receipt and return of all radionuclides
Order all diagnostic radionuclides with proper approval
Uses PACS for imaging/exam storage and the RIS
Maintains and rotates supplies in assigned workstations and demonstrates cost-efficient use of departmental resources
Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees
Meets all departmental-specific competencies
Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines
Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures
Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity
Performs any other duties as assigned or requested
Required Skills
Ability to operate Radiology equipment required. Perform indicated procedures as required by the Radiologist and ordering physician following established protocols
Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology/Nuclear Medicine Program
ARRT Certification or NMTCB
Kentucky State License
ARRT radiologic technologist with a current KY state license in nuclear medicine is acceptable
Current BLS certification required.
Current with continuing education hours
