Role: Mid-Level Software Engineer

Our Client is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer with  Minimum 3 to 6 years of experience to join a small engineering team and own full-stack features that directly impact learners across the globe. The organization is a peer-to-peer learning platform focused on preserving the human side of education by connecting students through tutoring, dialogues, and community.

This position is ideal for a product-minded engineer who enjoys wearing multiple hats, working directly with non-technical stakeholders, and turning ambiguous user problems into thoughtful and effective technical solutions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to own features end-to-end while working closely with engineers, designers, and program leads to build new learning experiences and programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own full-stack features end-to-end, from understanding user problems and stakeholder needs through scoping, technical specifications, implementation, and iteration based on feedback.
  • Work closely with non-technical stakeholders to understand user needs and translate ambiguous problems into effective product solutions.
  • Write technical specifications and make thoughtful technical tradeoff decisions with support from senior engineers.
  • Work in small cross-functional pods alongside engineers, designers, and program leads to launch new program pilots and learning experiences.
  • Build and maintain clean, scalable, and maintainable software across the full technology stack.
  • Develop product features using TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and Postgres.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high engineering and code-quality standards.
  • Contribute product ideas and think beyond implementation to help shape the overall user experience.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, approximately one week every 5–7 weeks.
  • Help improve platform operations and safety tooling.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and other team members to deliver reliable product solutions that serve a large and diverse global user base.
  • Continuously iterate on products and features based on user and stakeholder feedback.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 to 6 years of full-stack software engineering experience.
  • Proven experience shipping full-stack B2C features to thousands of users.
  • Experience working with typed programming languages and relational databases.
  • Professional experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and Postgres or a similar technology stack.
  • Experience working in a small, high-growth consumer startup environment.
  • Ability to define user problems, write technical specifications, and work directly with non-technical users and stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with senior engineers and take ownership of product solutions.
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to think beyond writing code and consider user needs and product outcomes.
  • Genuine interest in social impact and/or an education-focused mission.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small engineering team with a high degree of ownership.
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in ed-tech, marketplaces, real-time products, video products, or trust and safety features.
  • Experience with AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a product-minded full-stack engineer who enjoys working in a small, high-growth environment and taking ownership of features from problem definition through production.

This person should be comfortable collaborating directly with non-technical stakeholders, defining user problems, writing technical specifications, making technical tradeoffs, and working closely with senior engineers to deliver effective product solutions.

The ideal candidate will also have a genuine interest in social impact and/or education and be motivated by the opportunity to build technology that directly supports learners and communities around the world.
